Heroes of Might and Magic

Might & Magic Heroes (previously known as Heroes of Might and Magic) is a collection of video games initially designed and built by Jon Van Caneghem at New World Computing. As a component of the Might and Magic franchise, the series shifted hands when NWC was bought by 3DO, and later again when 3DO shut down and transferred the rights to Ubisoft. The titles showcase turn-based, fantasy-style battles where players command armies of mythical beings. The franchise launched in 1995 with the debut of the first game. A seventh entry, Might & Magic Heroes VII, came out on September 29, 2015. New World Computing ceased operations following the creation of Heroes of Might and Magic IV, after which Ubisoft has held the rights to the franchise. Nival Interactive created the first game in the series post-transition, Heroes of Might and Magic V. Black Hole Entertainment produced its follow-up, Might & Magic Heroes VI, though Limbic Entertainment handled subsequent patches and DLC, along with Might & Magic Heroes VII. Virtuos crafted the Shades of Darkness standalone expansion for Heroes VI.
